Board of Education News:  Programs That Make a Difference

 

        At the February 26, 2009 meeting, the “Coventry Pride” section featured the recognition of CHS student Anthony Pappalardo for attending the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference (PYIC).

          The PYIC is held every four years in January following the presidential election as a chance for young scholars to experience firsthand the ceremony and excitement of the inauguration of the President and Vice President of the United States.  Exclusively chosen Alumni of the Congressional Youth Leadership Council and National Youth Leadership Forum are invited to attend private inaugural events and activities.

          Dr. Bernard asked Anthony to say a few words about his experience.  Anthony thanked the Board and said it was very interesting to see the whole inaugural process in action.  He said there were over 15,000 participants from all over the country who were in middle, high school, and college.  He said they were not only able to witness the inauguration, but also were able to listen to various speeches.  He said it was a good experience to meet students from all over the country.
