Director's Profile
I have been a Coventry resident since 1991. I began my career for the Coventry Public Schools in 1999 after working at Glastonbury Public Schools for eight years as Custodial Foreman. Prior to that, I was self-employed most of my adult life, running a successful janitorial company. This experience, together with strong problem solving abilities, has proven to be an asset in helping to keep our facilities operational and meeting district needs in an ever changing environment. I received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from American International College with a major in Management.
I am an advocate of making the school buildings and grounds available for community use and enjoyment as much as possible. They are a resource for use as meeting places, for sporting events, concerts, plays and community activities. In addition to their primary purpose as educational facilities, they are Coventry’s community centers.
Along with my responsibilities as Director of Physical Plant and Facilities, I serve as the certified operator for the schools’ water systems, the “designated” person to oversee the Asbestos Management plan, chairman of the district’s safety committee and serve on the Town Council Insurance Advisory Committee. I became a certified Early Childhood Playground Inspector this year and earned a 10 course certification from the University of Hartford’s Construction Institute for Facilities Operations and Management for Public School Buildings and Grounds Professionals.
I am honored to work with a dedicated group of professionals that keep the schools clean and well maintained. Most of our staff live here in town and are committed making us all proud of our facilities. I’m confident you will find us to be responsive and helpful whenever you visit the schools.
Mission Statement
The mission of this department is to provide a clean, healthy and well maintained environment to facilitate advancement of the educational process and provide the support services needed to help promote initiatives of the schools and community. We operate under the belief that the learning experience is enhanced and students perform better academically when the learning environment reflects pride, respect and promotes self-esteem. We continually work toward improving efficiencies and operating the buildings in a cost effective manner while meeting the changing needs of the district.
