PARENTS AS TEACHERS
PAT – Parents As Teachers – is a free program which provides information on the development of very young children – from birth to age 3. During a child’s first year, monthly home visits are provided by a Parent Educator, bringing information as well as activities for parents to do – to encourage their child’s growth in the areas of: language, cognition, motor, social/emotional development. Emphasis is put on using lots of language and use of books with children from a very early age. Studies have shown that life-long success in learning occurs when children are exposed to books and language early on,
Periodic checks on the progress of each child and ongoing support for parents are also offered.
From birth to age 3, children with their parents may attend a weekly playgroup which is held at Coventry Grammar School, each Monday that school is in session, 10:00 to 11:00 am.
To register, contact Ronnie Kim, Parent Educator at 742-7313 or Marilyn Piecuch, Parent Educator at 742-4530.
SINCE PARENTS ARE A CHILD’S FIRST TEACHER AND HOME IS THE FIRST SCHOOL, we would like to assist parents in giving their children the best start to a long life of growing and learning.
WE ESPECIALLY WELCOME NEW, FIRST TIME PARENTS
