PHILOSOPHY:
Music is intrinsic to the complete human being and therefore must be cultivated in all people. Through creating, performing, and responding to music, we will generate a musical lifestyle evidenced through tuneful, rhythmic, and artful expression. All elements of music require experience above explanation to glean from them the highest artistic experiences. The repertoire of our ensembles must be of the highest quality to encourage these deep musical experiences.
The Bands of Coventry High School include the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Ensemble. Student musicians also form Chamber Ensembles, The Pit for Musicals, Festival Bands, and a Marching Band which appears in the town's Memorial Day Parade. The Coventry High School Music Department is dedicated to lending its Musical Talents to the School and Community in the name of spreading
meaningful musical experiences wherever they are welcome.

Band Council
Band Council is the students' oppurtunity to take ownership and action within the band program. Decisions about activities, fundraisers and general organization of the band are voted on by all students present. Brief meetings take place after school in the Band Room lasting about half an hour, generally every 2 weeks.

Music Boosters : 1st Meeting - Monday Sept. 15 - 7pm @ CHS (Music Rooms)
Meeting Goals: Vote on Bi-Laws, Organize and Elect Officers.
In an attempt to foster continued growth of a unified Music Department, the 2008-2009 school year will witness the incorporation of Coventry High School's "Music Boosters;" a collective group of active Choir and Band parents. Music Boosters assist with numerous activities and allow parents and friends of the Music Department the oppurtunity to use their specific talents to support music.
