Captain Nathan Hale Middle School Chorus

    We have a 6th grade chorus, a 7th and 8th grade chorus and a show choir.  The 6th grade chorus is open to all 6th grade students.  The students learn how to sing and also receive note reading instruction.  The students prepare two concerts each year.  One of the concerts is in December and the other concert is at the end of May.  They work on concert music and participate in singing games during rehearsals.  Qualified students are asked to participate in auditions for the Eastern Region Chorus.  This is a group made up of middle school students from all over Eastern Connecticut.  The students that are accepted rehearse for one weekend in March and present a concert.

    The 7th and 8th grade chorus is open to all 7th and 8th grade students.  This group performs three concerts a year.  One of the concerts is in December and two of the concerts are in May.  7th and 8th grade chorus students are encouraged to audition for the Eastern Region Chorus.    The 7th and 8th grade chorus participates in The Great East Festival.  This is an event with over five hundred middle schools. We perform for a group of judges and we receive a rating.  After the performance, the judges work with our chorus.  Our last concert is a program that we do with the 6th grade chorus.

    The show choir is our select group.  This group performs more advanced music.  This group participates in the same events as the 7th and 8th grade chorus.  The style of music is pop, jazz and show tunes.   7th and 8th grade students may audition at the end of each year to be a part of this group.  Advanced 6th grade students may be asked to audition for this group.
