Teacher Biography

Mr. Spivey has been teaching in Coventry for almost 9 years.  Mr. Spivey earned his Bachelors of Science (Magna Cum Laude) and his Masters of Arts from the University of Connecticut.  Mr. Spivey holds a Provisional Teaching Certificate and is endorsed to teach Elementary Grades 1 - 6 and General Sciences Grades 7 - 12.  After teaching at a nearby charter school, Mr. Spivey transitioned to Capt. Nathan Hale where he has taught Science, Language Arts and Mathematics in the seventh grade.  Mr. Spivey is currently in his first year teaching 5th grade Mathematics at G.H.R. School.  In September 2007, for the second consequtive year, Mr. Spivey was selected to be included in the 11th edition of Who's Who Among America's Teachers.  Mr. Spivey has served on the CNHS Technology Comittee and as the Connecticut State Department of Education Science Liason for Capt. Nathan Hale School.  Mr. Spivey has served as the Webmaster for the Capt. Nathan Hale School Website and as both Cross Country Coach and Girls' Basketball Coach .  Mr. Spivey also served proudly for 12 years in the Connecticut Army National Guard.
