Academics

For all of our students, we offer a wide range of courses that bear college credits and encourage our students to speak to their teachers and guidance counselors about the many benefits of enrolling in Advanced Placement courses. We have Advanced Placement courses in AP English Literature, AP English Language, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP Research, AP Statistics, AP U.S. History, AP Art History, AP Psychology, AP World History, AP Computer Science, AP Economics, AP Music Theory, and AP Seminar.

In addition to the courses outlined in this program, Coventry High School students have the opportunity to participate in a number of enriching courses and programs available through our partnerships and collaborative ventures. Through the UConn Early College Experience Program, we are able to offer 32 college credits—credits which are transferable to other colleges. Through the Manchester Community College High School Partnership Program, we offer eight courses, which equals 24 college credits that may be transferred from MCC to other colleges. Through Eastern Connecticut State University’s WHIP program, we have 30 credits a semester available to juniors and seniors.

While we are not offering college credit through the Virtual High School Program, students are able to access other challenging curriculum not currently offered in our school. Our teachers also customize learning for students by providing opportunities for independent studies through which individualized course work is available.

As I am sure you are aware, we also have some exceptional elective course offerings which include vocational education preparation. Challenge yourself by committing to academic excellence and exploring the wide range of courses available to you and make choices for your high school program that will prepare you well for post-secondary learning.
