NELMS Spotlight School

NELMS

On January 25, 2018 the New England League of Middle Schools (NELMS) visited Capt. Nathan Hale Middle School (CNH) as part of the evaluation process for CNH to be designated as a NELMS Spotlight School. The purpose of the Spotlight School Award is to recognize schools that have a record of effective teaching and learning for young adolescents and consistently implement middle level best practices. The NELMS’ visitation team conducted a full day site visit at CNH to observe a typical school day. Their visit included classroom observations, meeting with students, staff, parents and administration. The Spotlight School recognition places Capt. Nathan Hale Middle School among one of 13 Spotlight Middle Schools in the state and among 30 Spotlight Schools throughout New England. CNH was recognized at the Annual NELMS Conference Recognitions Reception on April 4 in Providence, RI as the newest Spotlight School. This recognition will last for a period of three years: 2018-2021, at which time the school may reapply for this distinction.
