American School Band Directors Association Festival 2023

Paula Sandahl

On Monday, November 13, three students from the Coventry High School (CHS) Music Band participated in the American School Band Directors Association Festival. This festival was hosted at Maloney High School in Meriden. Students rehearsed all day with students from nineteen different schools from across Connecticut, culminating in a concert that evening. Students were able to rehearse and perform under the direction of guest conductors. Junior Aidan Pollitt, tuba, performed in the Wind Ensemble under the direction of James Jackson from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford. Sophomores Charles Dunlap, flute, and Lilly O’Neil, alto saxophone, performed in the Symphonic Band under the direction of Aaron Burgess, music educator and conductor from Ithaca College. CHS Music Band students represented themselves and the community very well.
