Coventry High School Students Earn Prestigious All-State Music Honors
Eight students from Coventry High School (CHS) auditioned for the Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) All-State Festival this February, demonstrating exceptional musical talent and dedication.
To qualify for All-State, students must first be selected for one of Connecticut’s regional festivals, an achievement in itself. Students prepare and perform a rigorous set of music for adjudicators, receiving scores and feedback. Only those who achieve top ratings at the regional level are eligible to audition for All-State, making it one of the most competitive honors for student musicians in the state.
The All-State Festival represents the highest level of achievement in school music programs, bringing together top performers from all four regions of Connecticut.
The CHS Music Department is proud to recognize the following students who earned All-State honors this year:
- June Darcey (Senior) – Bass Clarinet, Concert Band, conducted by Bryen Warfield
- Bennett Dong (Senior) – Tenor, Mixed Choir, and highest scoring tenor in Connecticut, conducted by Arreon A. Harley-Emerson
- Yanielis Linarez (Junior) – Soprano, Treble Choir, conducted by Lindsay Pope
- Maya Michel (Sophomore) – Piano, Jazz Band, conducted by Julius Tolentino
- Theresa Montana (Senior) – Alto, Mixed Choir, conducted by Arreon A. Harley-Emerson
Participation in the All-State Festival provides students with the opportunity to rehearse and perform under the direction of distinguished conductors and alongside the most accomplished young musicians in Connecticut.
