CHS Band Participates in UConn Honor Band Festival

Paula Sandahl

On Saturday, February 24, 2024, five students from the Coventry High School Band participated in the UConn Honor Band Festival. This festival was hosted by the UConn Music Department at the University of Connecticut in Storrs. Students rehearsed all day with peers from sixteen different schools across Connecticut, culminating in a concert that evening. Students had the opportunity to
rehearse and perform under the direction of two guest conductors. Dr. Janet Kim, Director of the UConn Wind Ensemble, conducted one song and UConn Composer and Conductor in Residence, Dr. Henry Dorn, conducted another song. Coventry High School student musicians included Lilly O’Neil, alto saxophone, Aidan Pollitt, tuba, Chloe Shearer, alto saxophone, Owen Shearer, trumpet, and Evelyn Vogel, clarinet.
