History was made on Tuesday, June 10, as the Coventry High School (CHS) Boys Golf Team captured the CIAC Division III State Championship at Goodwin Park Golf Course—securing the first state title in the program’s 45-year history.

The Patriots wrapped up a remarkable season with a 16–1 regular season record, driven by a deep, disciplined, and determined roster that peaked at the perfect time.

The championship team was led by Senior Captains Landon Neves and Ben Vertucci, along with fellow seniors Jonah Stanizzi and Owen Shearer, and Junior standout Gavin McNally, who turned in one of the day’s top performances.
At the state tournament, the Patriots delivered a dominant and balanced team effort across 18 holes:

  • Gavin McNally – 73
  • Landon Neves – 74
  • Owen Shearer – 77
  • Ben Vertucci – 78
  • Jonah Stanizzi – 78

In addition to their championship win, Landon, Ben, Owen, and Jonah were named to the NCCC All-Conference Team, recognizing their exceptional play throughout the season.

The program is led by Head Coach Gary Baumgartner, with key support from Assistant Coaches Jeff Beebe and Jeff Spivey, and Swing Coach Tim Heaney.

This historic win reflects years of growth and commitment and secures the 2025 Coventry Boys Golf Team’s legacy as one of the school’s all-time greats.
