Coventry High School Girls Golf Team Caps Undefeated Season with 3rd Place Finish at CIAC Division II State Championship

The Coventry High School (CHS) Girls Golf Team continues its remarkable rise, completing an undefeated 16–0 regular season and earning a 3rd place finish at the CIAC Division II State Championship held at Tashua Knolls Golf Course in Trumbull. In only their second season as a varsity program, the Lady Patriots have already compiled a stellar 27–3 overall record, quickly establishing themselves as a rising force in Connecticut girls' golf.

The 2025 season was filled with highlights, including a team victory at the Wildcat Invitational Tournament on May 6 and a strong 4th place finish at the CIAC Girls’ Spring Classic—achievements that set the stage for their outstanding postseason performance.

The team was led by Senior Tri-Captains Alex Hall, Aly Stetz, and Nicole Sierakowski, whose leadership and steady play were critical to the program’s success. Junior Mazie Cox emerged as the team’s top scorer, medaling in six matches and finishing 9th individually at the state championship with a score of 88. Aly Stetz also came up big in the postseason, carding a 94 to place 14th out of 72 golfers.

Sophomore Gabby Neves added valuable depth to the lineup with her reliable putting and clutch play throughout the season, helping secure key victories in match play.

In just two years, these student-athletes have made a statement showing that with talent, teamwork, and tenacity, they are a program to watch in the years ahead.

The team is guided by Head Coach Jeff Spivey, with support from Assistant Coach Jeff Beebe, Boys Varsity Coach Gary Baumgartner, and Swing Coach Tim Heaney.

With a foundation of talent and strong leadership, the future looks bright for the Lady Patriots as they continue to build a legacy in the years ahead.
