CNH Recognizes Veterans Day

Paula Sandahl

Capt. Nathan Hale Middle School (CNH) recognized Veterans Day on Friday, November 11, 2022, with a special video production that was shared school-wide. Additionally, opportunities were provided for many individual students to share a message of gratitude to our nation’s veterans.

A committee of six students including a video editor prepared the special video which included performances by the select choir, 8th grade band, and an 8th grade trumpet solo. They also shared facts and details to help the school community understand the significance of the day.

In addition to the video, all students were invited to contribute posters, letters, or interviews with veterans. Over 200 CNH students participated, by creating more than 134 posters and poems, writing 46 letters, and conducting three interviews with veterans in their lives.

On Friday, November 18, Manny Rodriguez, the Commander of the local VFW/American Legion, will award medals to three students who participated in this year’s Patriot Pen Contest which was coordinated with 6th grade English Language Arts teacher, William Cherniske. The theme this year was, My Pledge to Our Veterans. The winning students are Finlay Eaton, Brayden Croutch, and Mia Alderucci.
