Coventry Families,
Out of an abundance of caution, this afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m., the CNH/CHS complex had to be placed in a Secured Lockdown. This was due to a safety concern called into the Coventry Police Department. You may be aware there is a statewide hoax occurring where calls are being made to the Veterans Suicide Hotline indicating that someone is outside of a school and they have ill
intentions. In this case, the caller stated they were in front of Coventry High School. The police immediately dispatched officers to the CNH/CHS complex along with GHR and CGS. The complex stayed in a Secure Lockdown until the police cleared the scene. The lockdown lasted approximately five minutes. At no time were students or staff in danger.
A Secure Lockdown does not allow anyone in or out of the building even if they have a scheduled appointment. In addition, all classroom doors remain closed and locked and students do not pass between classes until the lockdown is lifted.
A strong police presence will be seen at all of our schools today and through the rest of the week. Should you have any questions regarding this, please contact my office directly.
Best,
David
