Electronics Reminder
Many students received a variety of electronics for gifts this holiday season, such as SMARTwatches and cell phones. Just wanted to remind all families that students who need to carry such items (i.e. cell phones, tablets, etc.) for use before and/or after school must keep the item(s) in their backpacks throughout the school day. SMART watches can be worn if they are put into school or airplane mode. If students need to communicate with parents, they may come to the office where we can assist.
Grade 5 Presentations
Grade 5 students will have the opportunity to participate in two more discussions this year with Mr. Paul Vivian and Mr. Richard Mutts on January 17th and April 11th. Paul and Audley are respected local diversity training consultants who have been offering workshops to school districts in CT for over 25 years. Their presentations address differences with stereotypes, bullying and bystanders. They use humor, empathy, and authenticity to have open discussions about the differences students see in their school, in their communities and around the world.
Girls on the Run is a nationwide program facilitated by volunteers. GOTR has fun, evidence-based lessons that inspire participants to recognize their inner strength, increase their level of physical activity, imagine their possibilities, and confidently stand up for themselves and others. GHR will have two teams! The Monday/Wednesday team will be led by Miss Libby and the Tuesday/Thursday team will be led Mrs. Ouellette. If more than 15 participants sign up, a random lottery will be held to determine participants. Please contact Christina Ouellette at couellette@coventryct.org with any questions.

Pick-Update Dismissal Update
If you arrive early in the pick-up line for dismissal, please note some changes effectively immediately. Due to safety concerns and in accordance with the town ordinance for fire lanes, we ask that you do not line up prior to 2:45 pm by the gym entrance. This will help ensure the safety of students in and outside of the building. We appreciate your cooperation with the fire lane ordinance.
From last week
GHR Winter Concert
The Chorus and Band Winter Informance for all 5th grade students is Tuesday, January 14th. (Snow date: Jan 15th). Students should arrive to the CHS auditorium at 6:15. The performance begins at 7:00. Band students must bring their instrument and band binder. Students don’t need to bring Chorus music. Concert attire is business casual/slightly fancy. All CPS Music events collect goodwill donations. You do not need to give in order to attend. Any donations go directly to the students and the program! Winter Concert GHR.pdf
