Updates
Valentines Day
On February 13th, students will have the opportunity to exchange valentine cards with classmates, which is optional. If your child is participating, please bring cards for each member of his/her class. Any candy or food items must be individually wrapped and will be sent home with students to enjoy at home, due to dietary and health concerns. If you need Valentine cards so that your child can participate, please email me (jderagon@coventryct.org) or our Social Worker, Laila DaSilva (ldasilva@coventryct.org) and we can provide you with some.
Yearbook Cover Contest
All students are welcome to participate in a yearbook cover contest! Submissions are due by Friday, February 13th. The design must be submitted on a standard 8.5 x 11 paper. Students may submit multiple designs. Student Council will choose a winner, who will receive a free yearbook. Please see the flyer for further information: Yearbook Cover Contest 2526.pdf
Rare Disease Day
On February 27th, Coventry Public Schools will be raising awareness for Rare Disease Day. Staff and students are encouraged to "Show Your Stripes"; wear zebra print, stripes, or bright pink, purple, green or blue on Friday, February 27th to show support for those affected by rare diseases. Girls on the Run- Registration is now Open!
All Girls are welcome to now register for the afterschool club Girls on the Run!
Music Choice for Grade 5 Students
Last week, Grade 5 families received an email from the middle school regarding music choice for next year. CNH requires your child to choose one music program. The choices are Band or Chorus. Band is open to Grade 5 students who have completed the instrumental program at GHR. Chorus is open to all Grade 5 students. In order for your child to choose his/her Music Program you will need to sign into your Parent PowerSchool account. Under "Forms" you will see “Music Program Preference.” Please pick either Band or Chorus. This must be completed by Friday, January 30. If you need assistance logging into your PowerSchool account, email our tech department at help@coventryct.org
Digital Backpack
Our Digital Backpack has community notices and flyers, including approaching deadlines to sign up for Spring Rec sports! You can visit our Digital backpack on the Coventry Public Schools website under our school.
Remote Snow Days
This is a reminder that the Board of Education has approved the use of 2 remote learning days this school year. On remote learning days, the schedule is abbreviated to provide time for live, academic programming. Board of Education Regular Meeting Dates 2026
The Board of Education 2026 meeting dates are listed below. Meetings are open to the public and will also be live streamed through YouTube for convenient viewing. Meeting details and access links are available on our district website. January 8 & 29; February 12 & 26; March 12 & 26; April 6 (Monday) & 30; May 14 & 28; June 11 & 25
Open Door Meetings
Superintendent Dr. David J. Petrone has announced the schedule for his Open Door Meetings for the 2025-26 school year. These sessions will be held virtually, with the meeting link available on the district website. Open Door Meetings provide an opportunity for open communication, where parents and community members are invited to join, ask questions, and learn more about our school system.
- Friday, February 13, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 a.m; Wednesday, April 29, 2026 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. (budget focused)
