Dollars for Scholars!
Support your child’s graduating class through the Coventry Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars annual fundraiser! Learn about Dollars for Scholars by watching the brief video. Since 1992, this community-driven program has awarded over $1,000,000 to Coventry residents attending high school, technical, or charter schools, ensuring that every student who completes an application receives an award to help defray post-secondary costs. Every Path: Whether your child dreams of being a plumber, nurse, teacher, accountant, or business owner, this fund is for them. Last year alone, 54 seniors received over $84,000 thanks to your incredible generosity. You can make a tax-deductible contribution today via the online donation portal. For more details, visit the official website and help us continue our mission of investing in Coventry’s future.
Nugget of Knowledge: Supporting Literacy at Home
Be a word detective! Students in all grades at GHR learn about morphology, which is the study of how words are built using units of words like prefixes and suffixes. Tip: Play word games that focus on prefixes, suffixes, and multisyllabic words (e.g., “un-,” “re-,” “-ful”).

From Last Week
Bookmark Design Challenge: Celebrating America’s 250th
This optional at-home project is an opportunity for students in grades K–8 to design an original bookmark celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary. The Bookmark Design Challenge encourages young artists to create an original, hand-drawn bookmark reflecting what America means to them. You are invited to interpret the theme freely and creatively using art materials of their choosing. Mrs. Phillips shared this presentation with all Library classes last week and into this week to introduce the National Bookmark Contest to students. Students will then use library books and databases to research U.S. history, symbols, traditions, etc. for inspiration. If families choose to participate, please follow the provided links and be sure to submit your project by March 31st. Questions can be emailed to Mrs. Phillips at tphillilps@coventryct.org or stop by the Library Media Center during conferences for assistance with your uploads.
You’re Invited! Incoming Grade 3 Families
We invite all incoming Grade 3 families to join us for a Family Orientation Night on Wednesday, April 8th from 5:30-7:00 pm in the GHR Gymnasium. You will be learning about our Grade 3 curriculum, school spirit and events, and activities to support the transition from CGS to GHR. This is a family event, and students are encouraged to attend. If you are unable join us on April 8th, we will be sharing out our informational presentation to all families after the Orientation. No RSVP required. We hope to see you there!
