For school year (SY) 2024-25 breakfast is $2.25 at GHR for students and lunch costs $3.50 at CHS, $3.25 at CNHS, and $3.00 at GHR and CGS. Your children may qualify for either free meals or reduced-price meals. Note that for SY 2024-25 students eligible for reduced-price school meals will receive one lunch and one breakfast per school day free of charge.
FREE AND REDUCED PRICE MEAL APPLICATION INFORMATION:
We encourage families who are in need of financial assistance (and who have not done so already), to complete and submit the confidential Free and Reduced Price Meal Application to ensure meal benefits are available for students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Parents or guardians can submit this application in person to the Determining Official, Beth Pratt, located at Capt. Nathan Hale or mail to her attention at 1776 Main Street, Coventry, CT 06238. The application is available online in the Food Service portion of the website (below). The application includes detailed instructions on how to complete and submit to the Food Service Department. Applications can be submitted at any point in the school year as household income may change during the year. https://www.coventrypublicschools.org/district/food-services
Reminder: Annual PowerSchool Updates
The annual PowerSchool update forms are available in the Parent Portal. An Annual Update must be completed for all students enrolled. Please note: daycare forms are no longer a separate form; you can make the default option in PickUp Patrol to DAYCARE. One optional form is the Bus Stop Release form if you wish to allow your child(ren) to be released off the bus without a parent present. This form does not be completed as an Annual Update.
Reminder: Annual Device Fee
As a reminder, Coventry Public Schools has an annual device insurance fee of $25 for devices. If the insurance fee is not paid by October 9th, any repairs required will be at full cost to the family. You may pay this fee online through our new online payment system, or by sending cash or a check made payable to CHS Activity Fund to your child’s school. Directions for paying online can be found on the Device Fees & Online Payment page of our website.
Please know - it is our goal to ensure all children have access to a device. Students who qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch can have this fee waived. If you are unsure of your status or would like to discuss this further, please contact Beth Pratt, our Director of Food Services. In addition, if your family is experiencing a financial hardship, please contact your child’s school Social Worker or Counselor.
Reminder: Important Attendance Information
Coventry Public Schools believes in the importance of attending school. Absences one through nine are considered excused when a student’s parent or guardian approves the absence and notifies the school. Once a child has 9 absences, absences are considered excused only for limited reasons and we must notify families in accordance with district policy. If your child has reached 9 absences, a letter will be added to the PowerSchool Parent portal to serve as notification and to outline the reasons an absence can be considered excused moving forward. Please access this letter by logging into the PowerSchool Parent Portal and selecting the icon, Student Reports.
We would like to partner with you to keep your child on track with attendance so we can keep him or her engaged and learning. We are here to assist, support and help. Please reach out if we can be of assistance. For your convenience, here is the link to the Board of Education policies https://www.coventrypublicschools.org/boe/policies. Attendance information falls under the 5000 series – Students.
Have a great week,
Jen
