PTO Updates

Your GHR PTO needs your help! We have the PTO Craft Fair coming this weekend, Saturday, December 2, and we are in need of some volunteers to help staff the admission tables. Please see the signup below and if you can spare an hour we would greatly appreciate it! The PTO Craft Fair benefits all over Coventry's PTOs and helps fund the work we do for the school!

Next week GHR PTO will run our Holiday Book Fair. The Fair runs during school hours Monday-Thursday, December 4-7, and includes evening hours on Tuesday, December 5. This fair is run entirely by volunteers and gives students the chance to shop for themselves or family.  We need your help to make it a success!

Attendance Matters Focus

Every student, Every classroom, Every day.  #attendtodayCT

Last year at GHR, we had over 700 absences in the month of December alone. ! That is nearly double the number of absences in September and October. How can we help kids stay healthy in the winter so they can attend school? Do what you can to keep your children healthy. Dress them warmly for the cold weather. Encourage students to eat a healthy diet, be physically active, get enough sleep and wash their hands regularly.

From last week

Upcoming Music Event

Band/Music “Informance” December 14th!

The 5th grade band and music performance will be on Thursday, Dec. 14th at CHS’s Veterans Auditorium. Student arrival is at 6:15 with their instrument and band binder.  The performance begins at 7:00. Please see this attached newsletter for detailed information: GHR Band News- Informance.pdf

Holiday Food Drive

From November 15- December 15, please consider donating to our GHR Holiday Food Drive. Student Council will be visiting classrooms to share information about collecting items to support Coventry Human Services. Additionally, we will be having a friendly competition among the grades. Items can be dropped off in the gym lobby foyer, in boxes by grade. Items for donation include things like: Canned fruit vegetables, potatoes, stuffing, gravy, coffee/tea, juice, hot cocoa, dessert mixes, etc. Thank you in advance for your consideration!

From Dr. Petrone (Email from November 13th)

You may recall, in September I informed you that Coventry Public Schools will be embarking on a journey to evaluate our current facilities and develop a long-term plan to support our students and to maximize efficiencies. To begin, a Community Engagement Presentation has been scheduled for Wednesday, December 6 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. in the Library Media Center at the middle/high school complex. Refreshments and sandwiches will be served during this information session. To be sure we plan accordingly, please let us know if you will attend by calling or emailing my office at 860-742-7317 x2 or by December 1.

PowerSchool Updates

As we get underway with after school activities and clubs, please be aware that the annual PowerSchool update must be completed, as well as any device fees paid, for students to attend after school activities. Please contact the office for questions or if you need assistance with the update or fees.

Have a wonderful week,
