Remote Snow Days
As we enter December, this is a reminder that the Board of Education has approved the use of 2 remote learning days this school year. On remote learning days, the schedule is abbreviated to provide time for live, academic programming. Our schedule is posted on the district website, and linked here: https://www.coventrypublicschools.org/district/hourslocations
Snow Gear
We kindly ask that all snow gear (pants, boots, etc.) remain at home for now. If there is an adjusted school schedule (such as a delay or early release), we do not hold recess. Additionally, if active precipitation occurs during our recess time, we will not go outdoors. We will share an update regarding snow gear very soon.
Upcoming Spirit Days!
PJ Day will kick off our GHR Holiday Spirit Days! These optional spirit days are a fun way to celebrate GHR and come together as a school community. GHR Holiday Spirit Days 2025.pdf for our calendar!

Winter Reminders from the Health office!
It’s hard to believe we are quickly approaching WINTER! That means it is time to be prepared for chillier temperatures. There are a lot of fun things to do outside in winter, and our students love spending both recess and PE outdoors when they can. It is important that appropriate winter wear is sent in with your child(ren), such as warm coats, hats, gloves or mittens.
Some common winter troubles:
- Cold and Flu Season: As we approach flu season, please make sure to wash your hands often, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth and of course please cover your coughs and sneezes.
**If your child develops a fever, please ensure that they are 24 hours fever free (without any fever reducing medication) before returning to school.
- Nosebleeds: If your child suffers from winter nosebleeds it may be from the dry air. Try using a cold air humidifier in the child’s room at night. Saline nose drops or petroleum jelly may help too. If severe, consult your pediatrician.
- Stomach Bugs: The stomach “bug” or “flu” is highly contagious and typically travels around the schools this time of year.
** We ask that students remain home for a minimum of 24 hours after their last episode of vomiting. They should also be able to tolerate normal meals prior to returning to school.
Spare Clothing: As we move through the school year, I kindly ask that you keep a set of seasonally appropriate spare clothes in your child’s backpack, cubby, or locker. Having their own clothing available ensures that , in the event of an accident or spill, your child has something comfortable and familiar to change into for the rest of the day and to wear home.
GHR Winter Clubs & Events
GHR is pleased to offer a variety of after-school student clubs this winter! To help families plan ahead, we've complied a list of all upcoming clubs, including details to help you and your student choose the best fit. All club details and sign-up forms will be sent to parents, via email, tomorrow on December 2nd. GHR Winter Clubs.pdf for an overview of all clubs.
PTO Updates
Volunteers Needed! The Coventry PTO Craft Show is this Saturday, December 6th and we are still looking for volunteers to assist at the admission tables. This fundraiser helps raise funding for GHR which directly supports our assemblies, recess supplies, family nights and more!
Please consider donating even one hour of your time. The Craft Show is a true community effort, and your help makes all the difference. Thank you for supporting our students and school!
