Coventry Public Schools Announces New Principal of Coventry Grammar School
Coventry, CT – Coventry Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Hammer as the new Principal of Coventry Grammar School, following a comprehensive search process that began on January 24 and concluded with final interviews on April 10.
The search process involved multiple stages, including paper application review, written exam scoring, and panel interviews. Committees comprised of staff members, parents, and Board of Education members played key roles throughout the process. After careful consideration of a highly qualified pool of candidates, Ms. Hammer was selected to lead Coventry Grammar School.
Ms. Hammer brings over two decades of experience in education to her new role. She currently serves as an Elementary Associate Principal at South Windsor Public Schools. Her previous roles include K-6 Literacy Curriculum Specialist for Wethersfield Public Schools. Additionally, while working in Wethersfield, she was honored to be selected as the Teacher of the Year for the 2018–2019 school year. Ms. Hammer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Eastern Connecticut State University, and a 6th Year Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Connecticut. She is a resident of Glastonbury.

Ms. Hammer will begin her new role effective July 1, 2025.
