Capt. Nathan Hale School (CNH) proudly honored Veterans Day with a series of meaningful activities and celebrations recognizing the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in our nation’s armed forces.
Quarter Master Joe Eaton of the local VFW Coventry Memorial Post #9404 and Commander Carl Zetterstrom of the Coventry American Legion Post #52 joined Superintendent Dr. Petrone, Principal Ross Sward, parents, and teachers to recognize this year’s winners of the VFW annual Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest:
- Carter Pacholski, Grade 6 – 3rd Place, $50 cash award
- Melissa Pascino, Grade 6 – 2nd Place, $75 cash award
- Ryan Schumacher, Grade 8 – 1st Place, $100 cash award
In addition to the essay contest, all CNH students participated in the school’s first-ever Veterans Day Flag Display. More than 450 American flags were proudly placed in front of the school along Route 31, accompanied by a sign expressing gratitude and honoring the brave men and women of the military.
Students in the CNH Morning Show also curated and shared a schoolwide video highlighting the history and significance of Veterans Day. Social studies classes extended this learning through additional lessons and discussions about the meaning of service and sacrifice.
These collective efforts reflected the school’s ongoing commitment to fostering respect, gratitude, and civic awareness among all students.
