Coventry High School Celebrates Record-Breaking Advanced Placement Success and National AP Scholar Recognition

Coventry High School (CHS) is proud to announce another year of outstanding student achievement on Advanced Placement (AP) examinations, with 2026 marking the school's strongest performance in school history.

A total of 187 CHS students participated in the AP program during the 2025–2026 school year, completing 361 AP examinations across a wide range of academic disciplines. Of those students, 150 earned scores of 3 or higher, the benchmark recognized by colleges and universities as demonstrating successful mastery of college-level coursework.

This year's results represent an 80.2% pass rate, the highest percentage ever achieved by CHS students. The continued growth in both student participation and exam success reflects the school's commitment to academic excellence and expanding access to rigorous coursework.

Over the past five years, CHS has experienced steady growth in its AP program:

  • AP student participation has increased from 131 students in 2022 to 187 students in 2026, a 43% increase.

  • The number of AP exams taken has grown from 240 to 361, reflecting increased opportunities for students to challenge themselves academically.

  • The number of students earning qualifying scores of 3 or higher has risen from 93 in 2022 to 150 in 2026, an increase of more than 60%.

  • The percentage of AP students earning qualifying scores has improved from 71.0% in 2022 to 80.2% in 2026, demonstrating continued gains in student performance.

  • 75.9% of all seniors in the Class of 2026 earned at least one score of 3 or higher on an AP exam during their four years of high school.

In addition to these outstanding examination results, 74 Coventry High School students earned national AP Scholar recognition from the College Board based on their exceptional performance across multiple Advanced Placement exams. These honors recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in college-level coursework while still in high school.

AP courses offer students the opportunity to engage in college-level coursework while still in high school. Students who earn qualifying scores on AP exams may be eligible to receive college credit, advanced placement, or both at many colleges and universities, allowing them to enter higher education with greater confidence and potential cost savings.
