A Note from Mrs. Hammer

My Final Note(s) of the Year!

🌟 As we wrap up an incredible year at CGS, I want to thank you for the privilege of serving this amazing school community. My first full year as principal has been filled with joy, growth, and countless reminders of what makes CGS such a special place. Thank you for your partnership, trust, and support along the way. The future is so bright, we’re all going to need shades! 😎

💛 One small summer favor: Once our students are dismissed at 11:40 a.m. on Monday, we hope you'll help us give our teachers and staff the gift of a true summer break. We kindly ask that families avoid emailing classroom staff during the summer months so they can fully disconnect, recharge, and enjoy well deserved time with family and friends. Our Main Office team will remain available through the remainder of June, and I am always happy to help with any summer questions or needs. Simply reach out to me, and I'll make sure you get the support you need!

☀️ And now for your CGS Summer Challenge: Unplug, get outside, and embrace the magic of childhood! Build a fort, create an obstacle course, ride a bike, make up a game, explore a trail, catch fireflies, read under a tree, or simply enjoy some fresh air and sunshine. If your adventures take you somewhere special, send a postcard to CGS! Whether you're traveling across the country or discovering something new right here in Connecticut, we'll collect postcards all summer long and create a special bulletin board to celebrate the places our students explored. We can't wait to see where your imagination, curiosity, and adventures take you! 📬🌎🕶️

A refined  Weekly Splash will resume Friday, August 21st!

When sending an email communication to me, please also include Mrs. Morrison (kmorrison@coventryct.org).

Highlights include: a “POPping into Summer” treat cart for staff and last full week of school fun!

And be sure to check out our FINAL High Tide Heroes of the year. We’ve recognized so many role model students across the year!

Medication Pickup Reminder

All student medications must be picked up by a parent/guardian by 12PM on Monday.

Students may not transport medications to or from school.

Please contact the health office with any questions.

Lost & Found

We have quite a few items in our Lost and Found!

You can check the CGS PTO Facebook page for pictures of orphaned items. We also encourage families to take a peek when they drop off or pick up to be reunited with any missing items.

Anything not claimed by 12PM Monday will be donated!

Join Our CPS Family

Have you ever considered becoming a paraeducator? Some of our most impactful paraeducators are CGS parents and family members who are passionate about supporting children and our school community. It's a rewarding opportunity to make a difference while working a schedule that closely aligns with your child's school day and calendar.

Our district currently has multiple paraeducator openings. If you're interested in learning more, check visit: Coventry Public Schools Paraeducator Openings

We'd love to welcome more CGS families to our team!

Ask Me About...

Below you’ll find 2-3 questions from your child’s grade-level team and specials’ teachers that connect directly to what they’ve been learning; both in academics, related arts,  and in social-emotional learning lessons. These are great conversation starters to help your child share, reflect on their day/week, and celebrate their learning with you.

Ask your KINDERGARTNER…

  • Celebrate your kindergartener’s successes! Tell your child what makes YOU proud!

  • Ask your child about first grade!

  • Have your child finish this sentence: In the beginning of kindergarten, I could not yet …… but now I can!

Ask your 1st GRADER…

  • What is your all-time favorite first grade memory?

  • What is something you learned about yourself this year that surprised you?

  • What are you most excited about or hoping for when you get to 2nd grade?

Ask your 2nd GRADER…

  • What is your favorite second grade memory?

  • Now that you visited GHR, what are you looking forward to next year?

  • What is something you have accomplished that you are proud of this year?
