🙋 Volunteer Opportunities
Cafeteria/Lunch Duty Volunteering
Cafeteria/Lunch Duty Volunteer Description (please review prior to signing-up)
Parent/family volunteers are an important part of what makes Coventry Grammar School such a special place. Whether you're helping in a classroom or lunch room, supporting a special event, joining us on a field trip, or lending a hand behind the scenes, we are grateful for your partnership!
Annually, all volunteers must review our Volunteer Guidelines and Procedures and complete the electronic acknowledgment form. This only takes a few minutes and helps ensure a safe, positive, and consistent experience for everyone.
In future newsletters, this will be a place where volunteer opportunities are highlighted!
A Note from Mrs. Hammer
Partnering for Student Success
We know that parents and caregivers are our most valuable partners in education. We also know that it is nearly impossible to support learning at home without the right map! You want to be actively involved, but without insight into the specific tips, tricks, and strategies being used in the classroom, helping with schoolwork can feel frustrating for everyone involved.
That is why we created The Learning Corner.
This regular section of the Splash will serve as a direct bridge between our classrooms and your home. Moving forward, we will feature rotating highlights that showcase not only what our students are learning during the school day, but how you can support and talk about those same skills at home using simple, practical strategies and shared language.
Coming Up Next Week: To kick off the new month, next week’s edition of The Learning Corner (always the section right below this one!) will feature grade-level specific mini-newsletters. These updates will break down the primary focus areas, key skills, and learning goals across all content areas for the month of September.
Keep an eye out for your child’s grade level next week so you can hit the ground running together!
When sending an email communication to me, please also include Mrs. Morrison (kmorrison@coventryct.org).
Calling All Summer Reading Forms!
We want to hear about all the wonderful reading our CGS students did this summer!
This summer, CGS students had the opportunity to pick up an Early Literacy Passport from the Booth & Dimock Library and participate in our CGS Summer Reading Challenge. On the back of the passport was a QR code that families could scan to complete a short form telling us how many books your child read or listened to this summer.
Haven’t had a chance to fill it out yet? No worries! We would love for you to take a moment to complete the form.
Didn't get an Early Literacy Passport? That's okay, too! Simply click the link below, and it will take you to the same form.

We love hearing about the books our students enjoy and all the reading our CGS families do together. Whether your child read a book independently, shared a book with a grown-up, or snuggled up and listened to a story, it all counts!
Thank you for helping us celebrate a summer filled with reading!
Happy reading!
