Updates
A note from the GHR Health Office:
Annual hearing and vision screenings, which take place each fall, will be starting soon. Screenings will be completed for students in grades 3, 4, & 5. If you have any questions about the screenings or the process, please feel free to reach out to our school nurse, Mrs. Dunnack, at 860-742-7341 x3128. Wishing our GHR community a happy, healthy start to the fall season!
Literacy O’Lanterns!
It’s time to celebrate our love of literacy through family pumpkin decorating! All students are invited to decorate a pumpkin with a favorite character from a book or design a book cover. You can use paint, Sharpies, carve or use any materials you wish! Bring your pumpkin to GHR main office beginning on October 13th, and we will display it in our library where all students will be able to view them. Free Shipping to School: Order by October 19th to enjoy free shipping directly to the school.
Late Orders: Any orders placed after October 19th will be shipped directly to your home (standard shipping fees apply).
Retakes: If your child needs a retake, don't worry—retake orders will also have their own free shipping window.

Upcoming Literacy Night
All K-5 families are invited to attend our Family Literacy Night! This event will be held at CGS from 5:30-7:00 on Wednesday, October 21st. Please join us for a night celebrating reading. Please register with the QR code on the flyer so we can plan pizza accordingly. Family Literacy Night flyer
After School Clubs/Activities
Sign-ups are open for our Fall Clubs and Activities. Please know that we will also have offerings for winter and spring clubs. If you have any questions on clubs or events, please email the main office at: mfryxell@coventryct.org
GHR’s Annual 5K/ Fun Run
Please join us! We will be hosting our annual 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run on Thursday, October 22rd (Rain Date: Thursday, October 29th) The races will begin at 4:00 p.m. starting with the 1 Mile Fun Run followed by the 5K Run. Students and their parents are welcome to participate in the races or be a supportive fan. All students running in the race must be accompanied by an adult.

Deadline upcoming: Dream Big! Competition Offers $350,000 in Prizes for CT Students
The 2026 CHET Dream Big! Competition invites Connecticut students in grades K–12 to share their dreams or ideas for helping their communities through an essay, video, or artwork, with more than $350,000 in CHET 529 college savings contributions available to student winners. In addition, 10 Connecticut schools with participating students will have the chance to win $5,000 technology prizes. The deadline for submissions is November 6. MORE Information
